Motorized blackout curtains of great height mounted on custom curved electric tracks

Located in an iconic Lyon building designed by Rudy Ricciotti, in the heart of the Lyon Confluence district and overlooking the Saône River, Azar nightclub features large curved glass façades with convex glazing. Although the glass is slightly tinted, it still allowed too much visibility from the outside, compromising the sense of intimacy for guests and DJs alike. The objective was twofold: to shield the space from outside view and to enhance its acoustic quality.

Each window had a unique angle, requiring the design of custom curved tracks, installed more than 5 meters high. In collaboration with a metalworker, bespoke mounting plates were created to support the electric curtain rails.

The installed system allows for complete and instant blackout via individual or grouped wall-mounted remote controls. Nearly 50 meters of curtains, mounted on carabiners, move with a theatrical flourish at the touch of a button from the DJ booth. The Velour curtains, made from a technical, fire-retardant fabric with acoustic performance properties, transform the space on demand, enhancing the venue both by day and by night.
